A Gov Farewell… *sniff*

*sniffs* so my term ends tonight as Governor… and there's just so much to say… WOW.
It's been quite the year.
But hey, my CKI career won't end for a while yet!
Three Cheers for Circle K!

I wanted to write this long before now, but it didnΓÇÖt feel right, so I didnΓÇÖt.
Instead, today, on my last day of my term as Governor, I realize how much I am going to miss this role.

As governor, I have done a lot. Sure, it feels like babysteps all of the time but I feel that IΓÇÖve really accomplished something: made a little progress.

When I started my term as governor, I had no real dream for how it should turn out at the end but a dream of progress. I wanted our little forgotten district to be well known. I wanted to help bridge the separation that we ourselves had created between our club and the rest of CKI. I wanted to learn more about Kiwanis, CKI and KCI… I wanted to grow stronger. I wanted to grow both as a person and as a district.

But I didnΓÇÖt know how this mission could be possible.

I had a lot to learn, and am still learning now. With every new face I have met, with every challenge we have dealt with, with every experience, I have grown and learned as a person. And it is these experiences that truly make my journey as a Circle Ker exceptional. I wouldn’t exchange this year for the world, really. Even with all the craziness that is a term as governor… it’s been a priceless experience, making me truly grow as an individual.

I know now that I WILL join Kiwanis. I know now that IΓÇÖll be involved my whole life long if I possibly can. I know now how important it all is, from greeting new members to helping the youngest of children. Every little thing helps. I want to be a part of that, I want to help. If it is from within the organizational structure, or as a member, I want to be there for people.

Being governor most certainly helped me do that. But itΓÇÖs more than just that. CKI is a community of like-minded individuals. The K-Family truly is a family. And IΓÇÖm proud to be part of this amazing family! I donΓÇÖt want to say goodbye!

So I wonΓÇÖt say goodbye. IΓÇÖll stay just as involved as ever, just in different ways I would think. The K-Family is my passion. So thatΓÇÖs where IΓÇÖll remain.

Many thanks to the many CKIers and Kiwanians who have helped me along the way.
From that very first day of CKI involvement, through my election as governor and on to where I stand today: More dedicated and happy than ever. And it is thanks to everyone of you that I am where I am today… and pleased with the result.
