And I say that not just because it is the rainiest summer ever where I live. I honestly feel like this has been a pretty lovely year on the whole, but there’s been so many unexpected adventures in my work world, the news cycle, and of course my personal life (and that of my family).
In previous decades maybe I might have typed in more detail about all of this and maybe I may yet do this at some point in a venue that is more blog-like, but I do value my privacy somewhat these days. I’d like to write more and ramble more about things… but I don’t always have the drive to do so in an online publication venue that I KNOW isn’t getting read regularly.
I don’t know.
Sometimes it is just hard to navigate the world: Watching others struggle. Watching others deal with adversity. Watching things go on that are less than ideal… all of these are experiences that feel commonplace these days.
And I’m darn fortunate. I don’t really want to focus on all that but some days it feels more real than others.
So rather than ending this ramble with a promise to post more often or something like that, I’ll just hope that maybe I’ll feel more confident about writing more. Sometimes it’ll be on paper and never see the light of day and that’ll be fine. At other times it’ll be here or on social media or something of the sort, I’m sure.
But yeah I’m still here.
And 2026 is more than half over and well…
It’s a bit of an odd one.
