A Busy Day During a Busy Year

But whatever else would it be in 2025? I’m sitting here writing this blog post while I listen to overtime in the first game of the Stanley Cup Final (yes listening to the radio broadcast is my choice at this point in the series).

When I was younger, the Internet seemed like a much less scary place than it does now, and so I don’t share as many life details as I once did. This of course makes me a quieter player on the Internet (on social media primarily but clearly also here on my much neglected blog). I have all kinds of views on all kinds of issues but it just feels easier to discuss these in person or at least in real time with selected individuals if not in the flesh so to speak.

It’s been a year (and I’m talking the last 12 months) with postal strike(s) and with looming other strikes both at my workplace and at so many other places that I frequent or have frequented. It is a year where we’ve travelled close-ish to home and where we’ve planned travel to other locales. I’m exhausted. There’s a lot on the go and a lot to do. Life events and happenings are occurring. This year has been and continues to be a good one on a number of fronts if I ignore the larger geopolitical nightmares/dystopias we live in…

(and now I listen to the Oilers win the first game of the Stanley Cup Final and now I can let the tension dissipate)

… so clearly there’s some joy in the world if only for this casual Oilers fan who really wants her home team to win this year (preferably as soon as possible, really). I ought to be getting more rest. There’s so much going on.

And today was a lot. 🙂
