Extra-Life 2025

Good gosh is it already our 11th year participating? This year we’re once again raising money for our local children’s hospital (the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation) by playing video games for 24 hours. Now since we do have a kid and obligations therein, we’ll probably still take naps etc. but we do have a pretty packed schedule of awesomeness with the regular hybrid of in-person and virtual gaming. It’s only about three hours away now!

It’s all for an incredibly good cause: the Stollery is the hospital that serves most of Northern Alberta, some of the territories and many from around Western Canada. It is a great facility in need of its own dedicated building (I’m not going to wade into politics here but I could probably go on at length about the good that a proper Children’s Hospital in its own modern, well-designed space could do for a community). My kid spent a couple weeks there after birth and we’ve had countless visits of family there for everything from relatively minor emergencies through to more intense surgical needs and everything in between. But it’s not just for family (the need obviously pre-dates the arrival of our kid in our lives): the hospital helps so many from all walks of life in Edmonton and Northern Alberta. And every donation helps too! Everything from brightening up a kid’s day to helping ensure that they get the very best treatment.

So feel free to visit my fundraising page below and/or start your very own fundraiser for a good cause such as your local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital… I’m hoping to best my past years’ donation totals and raise that much more this year! At the time of writing I’m at 44% of my goal.
